News July 2025

It is now official! Your Royal British Legion Branch (#3473) was registered as an Association at the Préfecture in Nice in 1928 as Nice-Monaco. To reflect our growing membership your committee agreed a change of name to be appropriate, and this has been approved by HQ. The branch name is now PROVENCE-MONACO

Coming up in the next month is an Unveiling and Commemoration in LE MUY, in the Var. Last year was the 80th Anniversary of WWII Operation Dragoon in the south of France, generally recognised as an American ‘do’. Little respect is given to the fact that it was a joint landing with the French, and an even less known fact was that the British Army sent in Paratroopers to secure the high ground to facilitate the landings.

We commemorated the Fallen at a house in LE MUY where some of ‘C’ Co, of the 4th Bat, of 2 Para were killed in action. This year on 15 August at 15.00 we are returning to unveil a plaque dedicated to them and commemorate their sacrifice again.
Should you be able to join us please let us know (for the caterer and barman) and we’ll give you the co-ordinates.

We have secured the services of a young man who is tasked to create a branch website, and get us on Facebook, X, Instagram and every other ‘platform’, to attract more members to join us!

Stand Easy!
