At 15h00 on Friday 15 August there will be an unveiling and commemoration in LE MUY, in the Var. Last year was the 80th anniversary of WWII Operation Dragoon in the south of France, generally recognised as an American ’do’. Little acknowledgment is given to the fact that it was a joint landing with the French, and an even less known fact was that the British Army sent in Paratroopers to secure the high ground to facilitate the landings.
We commemorated the Fallen at a house in LE MUY where some of ‘C’ Co. 4th Bat. 2 Para Brigade were KIA. This year we are returning to unveil a plaque dedicated to them and commemorate their sacrifice.
Should you wish to join us please let us know (for the caterer and barman) and we’ll let send you the co-ordinates.
